  <title>Robert Cray Is Coming.....</title>
  <link>http://www.mnmbs.org/cpg/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=46</link>
<description>(From The Odawa Casino Resort Website)

March 7th Live At The Odawa Casino Resort......
Guitarist Robert Cray and his band started a Blues journey in Oregon that has led them to the top of the Blues world. Cray has been probably the most commercially successful Blues artist in the last decade with several charted hits.

Robert Cray is a Blues artist for today. He has taken the lessons of the Blues and created a clean, modern sound that caters to today&#039;s musical ears without losing the pain of the past. Some Blues purists are not impressed, but the record buying public is! He sells thousands of records and has national hits with Don&#039;t Be Afraid of the Dark and Forecast.

Cray formed a Blues band in Eugene, Oregon in 1974. His first record was for Tomato records in 1977 after the label owners saw his performance at the San Francisco Blues festival. With 16 records and several famous collaborations with B.B. King, Keb&#039; Mo&#039;, Eric Clapton, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, and Tina Turner, Cray has built probably the strongest commercial resume in the Blues.

Robert Cray was the bass player for Otis Day and the Knights in the movie Animal House.

Robert Cray has developed a clean, sparse guitar style that relies heavily on touch instead of amp distortion. He is able to express detailed nuances that most guitarists roll over. His voice is capable of the same nuances, and the combination of his guitar results in a airy, soulful ballerina-on-a-tightrope passages.

Robert Cray continues to tour, record, collaborate, and innovate. A Bluesman for modern times.

  <title>Sunday January 20th Fundrasier Recap....</title>
  <link>http://www.mnmbs.org/cpg/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=42</link>
<description>A Recap From The January 20th Fundraiser Event At Streeters Ground Zeo....

Well the weather outside was frightful and cold, but the bands that showed up to support our 2007 Challenge winner Big Daddy Fox &amp; The Krewe heated up the stage with pure mind blowing sets!Fans of the blues braved white out conditions to make it to the show and we want to thank all who attended. The show kicked off with Traverse City&#039;s own Code Blues who rocked the house for about an hour. Next up was The East Bay Blues Band who are regulars at Streeters. After that Bacon And Eggs took the stage with their special guest guitarist Jon Archambault. After a few songs, they invited Big Daddy Fox to play with them for a few songs, then they invited up one of our special guests Laith Al-Saadi from Ann Arobor.Next up was the one and only Big Daddy Fox and The Krewe, Big Daddy took the stage and brought the crowd to their feet, and after a few songs Big Daddy welcome our other special guest Donald Kinsey to the stage, The legendary Blues guitarist kicked things off with a classic tune he used to play with Bob Marley. after a few songs the stage was filled with members of all the bands and an all out jam session took place. After the jam session was over our headline act of the evening took the stage The Howlin Roosters from Gaylord rocked the house and closed out the show. After, some folks braved the winter roads and headed home, some headed off to an after party, and others found the nearest hotel and buckled down for the night to do some updates (hint hint)All in all it was a great show, Lots of photos and video were shot and will be edited later on this week, so make sure you check back here soon to see all the updates!</description>

  <title>The Faboulous Thunderbirds.....</title>
  <link>http://www.mnmbs.org/cpg/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=39</link>
<description>January 12th 8pm At The Odawa Casino Resort......

The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band ever since they came roaring out of Austin, Texas to inspire a whole generation of music lovers and roots-rock musicians. Their distinctive, powerful sound draws from the many roots of American music, mixing blues, rock &amp; roll, R&amp;B, Cajun and more to form the rocking hybrid that has spawned more than a dozen records, produced such mega-hits as “Tuff Enff” and “Wrap It Up”, and won countless awards and die-hard fans around the globe.
Original co-founder Kim Wilson spearheads the Fabulous Thunderbirds in their current hard-hitting lineup, which features Wilson’s signature vocals and harmonica, rising stars Kirk Fletcher and Nick Curran on guitars, and veteran T-Birds Jimi Bott on drums, Ronnie James Weber on bass, and Gene Taylor on keyboards.

In 2004, the Fabulous Thunderbirds signed with Tone-Cool/Artemis Records, and began work on their much-anticipated new studio CD, PAINTED ON. Armed with a seasoned T-Bird rhythm section and two of the hottest young guitarists on the scene today, the Fabulous Thunderbirds rolled into recording studios in Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, California to record the album their fans have been eagerly awaiting.

“This is by far the best band we’ve ever had, and the best album we’ve ever made,” Wilson states proudly. Produced by Steve Berlin (of Los Lobos) and Kim Wilson, PAINTED ON holds a few surprises, including eight brand-new compositions, a reworked Waylon Jennings song, a pure soul ballad, and vocal duets with guitarist Nick Curran and special guest Rachel Nagy of the Detroit Cobras. The title track (and first single) is a soulful rocker with a memorable hook that has “future T-Birds classic” written all over it. The songs draw from a variety of styles and influences, but they are all built solidly around the deep and unmistakable T-Birds groove.

&quot;We started as a straight blues band&quot;, Wilson says. &quot;Now we incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We’re an American music band and much higher energy than we ever were before... To be in the T-Birds, you need to understand the different styles of music and different ways of playing,&quot; Wilson comments. &quot;You have to be willing to adopt a more contemporary style. The guys we have now are able to do that.&quot;
